An outline of the game:

"Welcome to Everlasting Life, the gothic amusement park of cemeteries. Each of the residents here has been interred by invitation only, as each has a particularly interesting, instructive, or just plain gruesome story to tell. Your host and guide to this spirit world is the utterly charming yet self-possessed Edward Blackgate. Follow him into 19th century New Orleans †as he unearths the tale of local voodoo queen Jessie Bodeen. Jessie was an enterprising soul that may have prospered, had she stuck to her principles. Mix potions, solve puzzles and find hidden objects in this delightfully frightful adventure."

Gee, I wonder what that reminds me of?

Is this the official page? Itís giving me a lot of suspicious pop ups and itís a little odd that they have the beta for download. Itís making me hesitant to click on the beta download link. O_o

But overall, the idea sounds interesting and the graphics are pretty. It looks like some sort of I-Spy game mixed with the insides of Tim Burtonís mind. Thanks for posting this, iamtheman.

Oooh, 19th Century New Orleans? That sounds fun. A bit different to GK1.
I wonder if Napoleon House will look the same?

The beta thing seems very dubious. Surely those are not meant for general distribution.

As for the game itself, the theme sounds interesting, as usual with Jane Jensen, but sadly I am not into hidden objects...

Hopefully we will one day see a full-fledged adventure game from Jane in the casual style.

I wouldn't download anything from that site. †It just happens to be they only good discription of the game, along with screen shots that I found when I googled it. †If it's supposed to be a non-public beta release, a torrent mind you, it's odd that I found it that easily (it came up as the first hit on google.)

I'd wait for the official release on i-play.

The artwork really does seem a little Tim Burton-ish, and that main character looks like one Johnny Depp usually plays in Burton's films.

Just to be on the safe side, iamtheman, can you please remove the link to that site? I don't think it's legal and I don't want to get the server account shut down. If anyone wants to see the screenshots they just need to google "deadtime stories jane jensen".

Otherwise, the art looks nice.

Some day all forums will be like this.

(Seriously, always good to see any potential issues worked out perfectly amicably. That is very much the rule here. Makes me proud of our moderators and regulars.)

The "official" version was released a few days ago.  Here's the free trial run of it:

What do you think?  Personally, I think it looks great and it seems to potentially have an interesting storyline.

That's really nicely done. If I had more time I would like to play something like this. The free version kicked me out after an hour, and I was just about to clear that window.

I bought the game with a coupon gift (finally it pays off to be a member of GameFish ) and I've played through the first segment -- it's pretty nice and, outisde of the HOG sequences, it has a gentle adventure-y feeling to it. In fact, chances are that I'll review it for AdventureGamers.com

Alot of familiar vocab in this game (veves and the voodoo death god guy's name) and such.

Anyway, did anybody here mention how the game has a "hint" system that sounds similar to the one that will be in gray matter? You get a series of bars for things that need to get done, showing how much progress you have made. That is what gray matter is going to have, no? You can probably get a preview of the hint system in this game.
